Bike to Battle MS

October is a special time for us at 3 Guys From Brooklyn. In less than two weeks, our months-long fundraising efforts culminate as we bike around Manhattan for a cause we hold deep in our hearts.

On October 23rd, along with our friends at Crave Fishbar, we will be cycling around Manhattan for the annual Bike MS fundraiser event. Organized by the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Bike MS is the largest fundraising cycling series in the world. With 68 different rides across the U.S. and over 75,000 cyclists nationwide, every event is driven by the same mission: stop MS in its tracks and end it forever.

For our owner Phil Penta, this event is extremely important and deeply personal. 25 years ago, his father was diagnosed with MS, and it was devastating for Phil and his family.

MS then struck the family of Phil’s friend, Brian Owens. His sister was diagnosed and has been battling it for 14 years.

With a desire to do something about their situations, Phil, Brian, and some friends began fundraising and riding in Bike MS New York City. They began to pool their resources together, using their networks and positions as local business owners to fundraise and spread awareness about MS and the remarkable work of the National MS Society. Family and friends rallied by their sides in support and as a result we, along with Crave Fishbar are proudly entering our 6th year as a fundraising team in Bike MS New York City.

To date, our team has raised over $200,000 for the National MS Society. This year, our fundraising goal is $100,000. To do that, we need everyone’s help. We have already raised over $23,000 for this year’s event and are so appreciative. This money allows the National MS Society to continue their extraordinary work.

The National MS Society conducts research into the development of medications and treatments for people battling Multiple Sclerosis. Their discoveries have made life considerably more tolerable for people with MS and they have made incredible strides over the past few decades. What they have done for people with MS is invaluable, so we ask you to help us ensure that they can continue this effort.

Multiple Sclerosis is a debilitating disease. It is a chronic, unpredictable disease of the central nervous system that interferes with the transmission of nerve signals between the brain and the body. Today, there are over 1 million people in the United States diagnosed with MS. We want to end that. With the National MS Society, our vision is simple. We envision a world free of MS and a world where those afflicted are empowered to live their best lives.

On October 23rd, you can help us do that. Following the links below, you can join us in our effort to end MS by joining our biking team and donating to our team’s fundraising page. Thank you so much!
